1992
AFGE Local 2317 was already actively representing employees at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany in federal labor proceedings, demonstrating the Local’s longstanding role in protecting bargaining-unit rights.
Workforce Excellence Recognized
2015
Civilian depot employees represented by Local 2317 received the Secretary of Defense’s Robert T. Mason Award for Depot Maintenance Excellence. The winning team generated significant cost savings and operational value for the Marine Corps.
Marvin Jackson Leadership
2021–2022
Under President Erika Alexander, Local 518 joined federal workers and nurses in opposing workforce reductions that could disrupt veterans’ health care and benefits services.

Jackson continues serving as president of Local 2317 while also holding the position of secretary-treasurer for AFGE Council 240, which represents U.S. Marine Corps locals.
